A one-of-a-kind patchwork Christmas stocking, individually pieced together by hand from a distinctive mix of fabrics. Faded brick gingham linen, turquoise Liberty Tana Lawn, Japanese cross print cotton and textured silver-coated linen come together with French clay linen and faded aqua Indian block print to create an unusual combination of colour, pattern and texture.
Made using the English paper piecing technique in my East Sussex studio, each small hexagon is carefully joined to create a unique design. Finished with a bright pink Liberty floral lining, the contrast brings an unexpected flash of colour.
With its softly faded palette and more contemporary touches, this stocking brings together traditional patchwork and a more modern sensibility. It also sits beautifully alongside the other stockings in the collection.
